Missouri: Petition signatures submitted for earnings tax measure
Backers of an initiative that would give voters the opportunity to repeal the St. Louis and Kansas City earnings taxes, have submitted their petitions to the Secretary of State’s office, with twice the number of signatures needed. Opponents are warning that the elimination of the earnings tax would force both cities to drastically cut public safety services. Missouri State Firefighters Council President, Tony Kelley, says its a huge gamble that he’s not willing to take, “there needs to be a lot more discussion on the issue of getting rid of the earnings tax, before you go forward with a plan of lets pull it and see what happens.”
